Please join us!!

Madelyn loved the Epilepsy Foundation so we participated each year at Sharon's Ride.Run.Walk.  She loved seeing all her friends come out and walk with her each year.  Since she died we have been walking in her memory.  I, her momma, like to think of this walk as a Maddy's family reunion.  I love seeing all the kids come back each year with their Team Madelyn shirts on.  I love seeing the community coming together.  We would love to see you there this year!

Maddie's journey with Epilepsy --

Maddy was a true angel here on earth and touched everyone she met. She loved being a big sister to her younger brothers, she loved to cheer and she LOVED her friends and family. She was diagnosed with Epilepsy at the age of 8. She started having absence seizures first which we treated with medicine. She then had her first convulsive (grand mal) seizure on July 1, 2011. We started her on a second medicine for those. She had spurts of these seizures until we got the dosages of her medicines figured out. On June 19th, 2013 (the last day of school) her Dad went into her room to wake her and found her face down in her bed. She had a seizure and stopped breathing.  She died as a result of SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death by Epilepsy).

It is important to talk about her death and the risks of Epilepsy.  But this walk isn't just about SUDEP.  It isn't just about Epilepsy.  It is about getting together and enjoying being alive.  My daughter didn't get to live another don't take yours for granted.  Come out to De Anza cove, enjoy the sun and sounds of music and kids playing.  Enjoy life!  We really hope to see you there!!
