Our rock star Zig!

Team Ziggy

Team Ziggy is back for our second year and our hopes for this year are to grow our team as well as raise even more money for the Epilepsy Foundation of San Diego!  Last year we raised over $6,000 for the foundation and had a blast with our teammates and in true Zaspel fashion, of course we want to go even bigger and better!!

Its been a little over a year since our Zig was diagnosed with Partial Epilepsy (Dec. 2016) and over that year we have had our share of challenges, as well as breakthroughs when it comes to Ziggy’s epilepsy.  I’m happy to say that he’s doing really well!  I wish that I could say that we’ve found all the answers and solved the riddle that is Ziggy’s condition but that is just not the case.  We have only begun to scratch the surface of what is going on inside his 6 year old body and there isn’t a day that goes by that we don’t wonder if we’re doing all we can for him and have made the right choices for him.  This is the never ending battle of having a child with epilepsy.  You can’t trust anything will stay the same, that another seizure won’t happen when you least expect it or that these new behaviors are part of he epilepsy.  You just don’t know.

One thing you can trust is that you are not alone in this fight and that you have support right here in San Diego.  Support not only for your son, or daughter, or uncle or sister but for your entire family. We have been so lucky to have the Epilepsy Foundation holding our hand since the very beginning of our journey with Ziggy and I can’t put into words what that support has done for us and for so many individuals and their families.  We have seen so many hopeless faces (we were once those faces) and through our support group with the foundation, I’ve seen hope return.  We are just one family who has been touched by this foundation.  There are thousands of people living with Epilepsy and being diagnosed every day and without the support of the epilepsy foundation there would be so many people who may also find themselves hopeless.

This is why we walk. And this is why we want to raise as much awareness and money for the Epilepsy Foundation of San Diego as we can with the love and support of our tribe right along side us.  This Foundation needs to continue to help all those people touched by this very complicated disease.  This Foundation is HOPE!   So please join our team and if you can’t make to the walk, consider donating.  You are helping so many people.

Love and Light to you all,

Team Ziggy
