Aaron | Team Emily
For the fifth year in a row, I am excited to be participating in Sharon's Ride.Run.Walk to support Team Emily and the Epilepsy Foundation of San Diego. Emily was diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of seven, and at her worst was having 25 seizures a day. After trying numerous medications and specialized diets, she was able to greatly reduce the frequency of her seizures. Emily has learned to cope with her Epilepsy, and this journey was only possible due to support from the Epilepsy Foundation.
Unfortunately, Emily is not cured. She had a seizure last year which served as an unwelcome reminder of her Epilepsy and its implications. Despite this disheartening setback, Emily remains in good spirits. She is an incredibly talented dancer and is going to a prestigious summer dance program to continue her training. Emily’s perseverance and positive attitude are truly inspiring, and she refuses to let epilepsy get in the way of her goals.
There are over 50,000 people living with epilepsy in San Diego, and millions of others across America. Most people with epilepsy are not as fortunate as Emily, and cannot ever find a way to control their seizures. The Epilepsy Foundation of San Diego provides a variety of services including medical counseling, expressive arts therapy, epilepsy education, and more. Please consider donating to help me raise money and awareness for this great cause.
For those of you who donated in past years, thank you so much! I am grateful to have such loving and supportive family, friends, and co-workers!
